The Gastroenterology Department of the School of Medicine, University of Crete, Greece is the referral center for patients with Gastrointestinal and Liver diseases in Crete and the rest of the islands of the southern Aegean Sea.
ISO certified, high quality medical care is provided to patients hospitalized, receiving endoscopy services or followed-up in specialized outpatient clinics. A modern, fully equipped endoscopy suite covers all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy for gastrointestinal, biliary or pancreatic diseases. The European Union of Medical Specialists has recognized the department as a European Training Center in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Basic research is conducted in the Gastroenterology Research Laboratory and a well-organized clinical trials office coordinates the healthcare of patients routed to novel, innovative treatments.
